It's been a while.
I've been doing stuff, but I just haven't felt like writing about it.
I went to that country bar where Nao-chan was singing. She was so cute in her cowgirl outfit. I have pictures and they'll be up soon. She was so excited that I showed up and brought three foreign friends with me. After every song (not all Patsy Cline) she would ask me if her singing and pronunciation were ok. I think we made her really nervous. She came to talk with us between sets and her English was pretty good. There was a guy with her playing guitar named "Charlie" Watanabe. He was a pretty good singer as well, but I'm almost positive his name's not really Charlie. The drummer was also playing bass and that was a sight.
I went bowling the other day at a HUGE bowling alley. The shoes were velcro, but that was really the only difference from an American bowling alley. Oh, and the little videos that played on the TV screens when I got a gutter ball or a strike (yes, I got a few strikes) had Japanese hoochies in them saying things like "Soo da naaa." or "Ganbatte ne!"
I played soccer for FOUR HOURS on Thursday. It was a holiday for the autumnal equinox, so we (fellow ALTs and a few Japanese friends) got together and played two full games. The first one was pretty small with just the girls, but the second one got pretty huge because eight guys joined in. I scored two goals and got some great bruises. It was soooo much fun, but I'm still tired and sore two days later. I'm so out of shape! I keep telling myself I need to be running every day for the next week to get ready for the tournament. Surely I've mentioned the tournament... Miyagi prefecture and Sendai city both have ALT soccer teams, so we're renting four or five big vans and heading to Nagano for an ALT soccer tournament, which is about 6 hours away. Ever seen the movie Road Trip? hahaha... naah, it won't be like that, but I'm sure it will be a blast.
Robyn's birthday is this Thursday, so we will be celebrating soon. The big 2-4.. it's fast approaching for me too which is hard to believe. I still feel like a geeky 16 year old!
In heavier news... I think I've hit a small funk. I haven't been sleeping much and I just don't want to go to work and I really miss my family and friends. I guess this is homesickness or culture shock or something similar. Hopefully the clouds will move on soon.
Oh... and I apologize if I haven't been responding to email quickly or at all, I have been really really busy lately. It's not that I don't love you, I just want to write epics when I only have time for a memo!
That's all today... take care!
